PART I Item I. Business Columbia Financial, Inc. (“Columbia Financial” or the “Company”) is a Delaware corporation that was organized in March 1997 in connection with the mutual holding company reorganization of Columbia Bank. Columbia Financial is the holding company of Columbia Bank, which is a federal savings bank. Columbia Bank, MHC (the “MHC”) was also organized in March 1997 under the laws of the United States. In connection with the reorganization, Columbia Financial became the wholly-owned subsidiary of Columbia Bank MHC. Columbia Bank was founded in 1927. Columbia Bank has elected and has received regulatory approval to operate as a "covered savings association" pursuant to Section 5A of the Home Owners’ Loan Act, as amended, and the regulations of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (the "OCC") promulgated thereunder.
